Nootka Sound is a wildlife haven. No
matter what the time of your fishing trip, you will not be
disappointed. Should you decide to come in by road, the drive
from Campbell River to Tahsis will afford you much opportunity to
observe wildlife, so make sure you have your camera ready. On
land black bears, Roosevelt Elk, cougar and the coastal
black-tailed deer abound. The area supports one of the largest
populations of bald eagles in North America so whether on land or
sea you will be sure to see many of these magnificent birds.
On your trip you will have many options of
different viewing points from which you can take in the
breathtaking beauty of the area and observe paradise the way it
was meant to be. The scenery is rugged and beautiful with
evergreen forests, snow-capped mountains, lush valleys, clear
lakes and streams, not to mention the unspoiled beaches and
coves. Canoeing, kayaking, caving, fishing, and hiking are all
very popular activities in this region. You will be more than
amazed at the untouched beauty!
The marine world around the Nootka Sound is
a virtual aquarium with sea lions, seals, sea otters and several
species of whales. The grays can be seen throughout the spring
into early summer as they migrate through the Sound. Humpbacks
and orcas visit all through the summer as they come to the Nootka
Sound to feed on the abundance of pilchards and krill. Every day
provides an adventure of sight and sound that you will never
forget.
In 2006 the Esperanza Inlet drew North
American media attention when three types of whales, greys, orcas
and humpbacks converged there at the same time. Why not consider
